Thanks Judy. I agree that "The Quiltmakers Gift would make a great read to your sewing circle. It is a wonderful story that explores such difficult themes as envy and how to find happiness in a material world. I would like to make it the number one read on our own sewing circle reading list. Thanks for your comment Judy. Happy sewing my friend!

A favorite at our house is 'The Quiltmaker's Gift' by Jeff Brumbeau, illustrated by Gail de Marcken. It's a story of a powerful and greedy King who believes that his happiness will only come when he possesses all of the prettiest things in the world. When he hears of the Quiltmaker and her creations that are said to 'fall to the earth from the shoulders of angels', he becomes certain that possessing one of her quilts will be the key to his happiness. The Quiltmaker's gift to the King is the knowledge that the deepest contentment comes from generously and freely giving your beautiful things to others. It's a simple and beautiful story - richly, colourfully and generously illustrated. I love it!
